RELIGIOUS EDUCATION 2011-2012

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process of becoming a member of the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. It is a journey into the faith that includes prayer, ritual, and classes in the context of community. The initial period of RCIA is called the period of inquiry where persons are investigating the Catholic Church to see if it is right for them.  RCIA is held each week on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the parish office building chapel. Please call Sr. Janet at 531-3164, if interested.

Baptisms of infants/children before age 7 are celebrated the third Sunday of each month during the Masses (4:30 p.m. Saturday, 9 & 11 a.m. Sunday). There are no baptisms during Lent. Parents are required to attend a preparation program once before the baptism of their children. The program is offered the first Sunday of the month at 1 p.m. Please contact the parish office, 531-3164, to schedule a Baptism and to register for the class.

Religious Education for Children:
Registration and permission forms are available for all programs, ages 3-HS, here. Use one registration form per family, but separate 2-page permission/medical release forms per child.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a formation process that takes place in a specially prepared environment called the Atrium. Catechists invite children ages 3 to12 to come spend time with God in the Atrium.

For more information on the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd contact coordinator Mary Lennard at (513) 531-7572. This Montessori based process is highly effective with the children. Its emphasis is on the Eucharistic liturgy and the liturgical calendar feasts and seasons.

Lay Pastoral Ministry Program

The Lay Pastoral Ministry Program is one of the three divisions of the Athenaeum of Ohio.

Begun in 1975 as one of the first lay ministry programs in the country, the LPMP is open to women and men of faith who want to grow as lay ministers. The goal of the Lay Pastoral Ministry Program is to provide participants with the experiences they need:

  • to become more effective ministers
  • to empower others to minister
  • to minister with creativity and adaptability to the evolving needs of a changing church and society.

In order to accomplish these ends, the program experience provides participants with a general theo-logical education as well as the opportunity to develop ministerial skills under the supervision of experienced ministers. Through the program, participants are helped to grapple with mature faith questions and to develop a faith stance and a spirituality supportive of their role as lay ministers.
